The plant is one of the largest employers in Piedmont. According to the city, it makes seating for manufacturers such as Freightliner and Mack. Layoffs will begin April 11.

CVG is headquartered in Ohio. Other brands in its portfolio include Moto Mirror, National Seating and Sprague Devices.

For the third quarter, the most recent period for which data is available, the company reported revenues were down 11.2% to $152.5 million, primarily due to softening North American demand. It notched an operating loss of $1.1 million, flat year over year, in the quarter.

"In the face of ongoing lower demand in our key construction, agriculture and Class 8 truck end markets, we were pleased with the resilience seen in our third quarter results," James Ray, president and CEO, said at the time. "We continued to benefit from our operational efficiency improvement and right-sizing our manufacturing footprint and enterprise structural cost, evidenced by the continued sequential expansion in our adjusted gross margin in the quarter, despite the lower demand environment."

Seating revenues decreased 10.4% in Q3, but operating income improved by $2.9 million, thanks to improved margin performance and lower expenses.

"Our global seating segment expanded margins, as we see the benefits of our operational efficiency improvements, even in a softer demand environment," Ray says.

The company expected net sales for 2025 to come in at $640-$650 million at that time; full 2025 numbers and fourth-quarter data will be reported March 10.
