M&K Truck Centers expands into metro-Detroit

Mk Logo Official 300x93M&K Truck Centers has acquired the exclusive rights to represent Volvo Trucks in the Detroit-metro market from Livonia-based VIP Truck Center.

A full-service dealer of new and used heavy- and medium-duty trucks headquartered in West Michigan, M&K will offer service (including warranty service), parts sales, and Volvo truck sales and leasing from their existing location at 37580 Mound Road in Sterling Heights.

The transition is effective effective Jan. 13.

“We are excited to bring the M&K commitment to customer satisfaction to the Detroit market for the Volvo brand,” says M&K Truck Centers President Ron Meyering. “Volvo Trucks had numerous dealers to choose from to represent them in this important market. We are honored they chose M&K.”

Plans call for M&K to add more than 2,500 square feet of warehouse floor space to the Sterling Heights parts department in preparation for the acquisition. Additionally, four additional parts delivery trucks and a mobile service truck have been added to the location to service Volvo customers.

John Sullivan, general manager of M&K’s Sterling Heights location, says the company looks forward to meeting with each of the Volvo employees that work for VIP.

“This business depends on trained and dedicated people serving customers, and our business expansion requires us to add to our existing team,” he says.

M&K is planning to maintain two stores in the market. Locations for an additional dealership to complement the Sterling Heights location are being considered along the I-275 corridor between I-94 and I-96.
