Four Star Freightliner breaks ground on new Florida facility

Four Star Freightliner, Inc. broke ground on a new facility in Midway, Fla., this week.

Four Star Freightliner’s dealer principal Jerry Kocan was joined by Florida Gov. Rick Scott, Midway Mayor Ronald Colston, several other dignitaries and Four Star Freightliner employees for the ceremony.

The facility, slated to open late summer, is located at 1800 Brickyard Road East and will replace the current facility on Capital Circle in Tallahassee.  The new location will provide easier access for customers.

“We will be better able to support the transient customers by being easily accessible to Interstate 10 and the two largest truck stops in the area,” Kocan says. “Not only will customers have greater access and visibility, there is much more space to support our customers’ needs for parts, sales and service.”

This $2.5 million capital investment will retain 18 employees and allow for an additional 10 jobs. Four Star Freightliner has also committed to partnering with the Gadsden Technical Institute in establishing a diesel technician training program.

“We will help create a curriculum and the program will be taught inside our Midway facility until the county can generate enough interest so we can collectively offer more opportunities to Midway, Gadsden County and the Tallahassee-area,” Kocan says.

“Such a program allows those interested to pursue a well-paying career while remaining in Gadsden County near family and friends,” says Gadsden County Board of County Commission Chairperson Sherrie Taylor.
