Motiv Power Systems will offer a new iteration of its electric trucks for medium-duty fleets.

The new trucks build on the company's previous offerings of all-electric step vans, box trucks and shuttle buses. Motiv has deployed more than 150 vehicles and driven more than 2.5 million miles across North America.

"Motiv's new technology platform tackles key barriers to electrifying a commercial fleet: payload confidence, range anxiety and serviceability concerns. And we've done so in collaboration with our customers," says Tim Krauskopf, CEO of Motiv Power Systems. "The driver holding the wheel every day is our target -- and our success at getting them to advocate for Motiv's EVs is the best validation for adoption."

The trucks are designed to service 2-6-ton payloads, Motiv says, and will offer torque comparable to Class 8 diesel trucks. They also feature a simplistic design to help with maintenance, using fewer wires and harnesses and less refrigerant, Motiv says. The new battery, co-developed with ONE and manufactured in the U.S., can offer 150-200 mile range for its entire capacity, even when at max GVWR, the company claims, meaning that fleets can drive the full range with a maximum payload.

The LFP battery is free of both nickel and cobalt, which Motiv says lowers costs and creates a more sustainable raw material supply chain. Fleets will be able to select two to three battery packs to suit range needs.

The truck bodies are also customizable and include several charge port locations, multiple high-voltage accessories and power take-off, and other specialized body requirements.

Motiv's medium-duty trucks are available for purchase and the first shipments are expected in June.
