Firestone Industrial Products announces its Williamsburg, Ky., air spring manufacturing facility has reached the milestone of working one million man-hours without a lost-time accident.
“A milestone of this significance didn’t happen by coincidence. It took the effort of all of our teammates working together to create a safe work environment,” says Michael Weir, plant manager. “The safety of our teammates is the number one priority at all Firestone facilities, and this recognition demonstrates that the measures in place are working.”
Firestone has an established safety and health program that includes training, evaluation of basic systems, internal audits and continuous improvement. Daily, monthly and quarterly meetings focus on workplace safety and process safety management. Teammates are fully engaged in the safety process, and there is active, visible involvement of all levels of management, the company says.
