Bendix1Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems and Bendix Spicer Foundation Brake (BSFB) announced this week it will hold hands-on, in-depth technical training sessions in North Carolina, Michigan, Nevada, and Ohio next month.

Bendix says its Air Brake Training class covers the description, operation, and service elements for the total range of components found within dual air brake systems. Topics include fundamentals of compressed air, tactics for air system failure mode diagnosis and troubleshooting, and air brake system and foundation brake components (air compressors, valves, foundation drum brakes, and air disc brakes).

Additionally, the company says its Advanced Technology Training* class – new for 2019 – picks up where the Air Brake Training course ends, covering the operation and troubleshooting of higher-level driver assistance and safety systems, as well as diagnostic software. In addition, the session includes in-depth, hands-on maintenance for Bendix air disc brakes and electrical diagnostics. The company says systems addressed in the course include:

  • AutoVue Lane Departure Warning (LDW) System from Bendix CVS
  • Bendix ACom diagnostic software
  • Bendix ESP Electronic Stability Program full-stability technology
  • Bendix Wingman Advanced and Bendix Wingman Fusion
  • SafetyDirect by Bendix CVS
  • SmarTire and SmarTire Trailer-Link TPMS by Bendix CVS

* Regarding the latter course, Bendix states due to the quantity and complexity of the products covered that it highly recommends that each student complete the Bendix Air Brake Training (three-day) class, or at minimum the online brake school at brake-school.com, before taking the Advanced Technology Training class. Both classes include classroom lectures and practical hands-on exercises, plus visual aids to demonstrate the components and related systems. Most locations feature operational demonstration boards, the company says.

The company’s March training schedule is as follows:

Air Brake Training

  • March 5-7: Huntersville, N.C. – Campus of Central Piedmont Community College
  • March 12-15: Owosso, Mich. – Campus of Baker College – Diesel Technology
  • March 19-21: Sparks, Nev. – Bendix West Coast Distribution Center

Advanced Technology Training

  • March 26-27: Elyria, Ohio – Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems Headquarters
  • March 26-27: Sparks, Nev. – Bendix West Coast Distribution Center

The company says class size for the 2019 in-person Bendix training courses is limited, and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. The cost for the training class, per attendee, is $400 (U.S.) for the Air Brake Training and $350 (U.S.) for the Advanced Technology Training.
