Ametek releases intelligent control module

Ametek user-definable intelligent control moduleAmetek last week introduced a new user-definable intelligent control module (ICM) for multiple applications.

The ICM is engineered to interface through dual CAN busses and 32 switched inputs to control power for up to 40 devices, Ametek says. Using visual logic programming and a built-in Simulink integration, Ametek adds the ICM is built to sense and control devices such as lighting, HVAC, radio, switches, sensors, motors, solenoids and other devices, allowing users to leverage advanced diagnostics and a wide array of inputs to enhance a vehicle’s telematics system with a more detailed view of the vehicle’s status.

Users can model the system connections and logic and then automatically generate code for the vehicle application, Ametek says, and they also can use Simulink to perform tests early in the development process and as often as they’d like to develop the system iteratively.

By replacing fuses and relays with smart power and SAE J1939 CAN communications, Ametek says its new device eliminates the need for smaller modules through better communications and more robust control of vehicle components.
