The Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA), the commercial vehicle division of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA), announced its 2020 board officers and directors.

The HDMA board of governors is responsible for the strategic direction, performance, and satisfaction of HDMA members. In 2020, HDMA will welcome incoming chairman, Gary Gerstenslager, president and CEO, Hendrickson International.  Gerstenslager will succeed current chairman, Tim Musgrave, president and CEO, Pressure Systems International (PSI).

During his three-year tenure, HDMA Chairman Musgrave took advocacy and supplier leadership to a higher level in the global commercial vehicle industry. He also focused his efforts on HDMA’s core globalization and advanced vehicle technology focus, and he progressed HDMA’s highly successful future leadership development initiatives, producing significant results during his term, the organization says.

As incoming chairman, HDMA says Gerstenslager will continue with strategies and initiatives to fulfill HDMA’s mission of advancing the commercial vehicle supplier industry and business interests of its members. He will continue focus on further development of HDMA’s mission and strategy and will continue to serve on the MEMA board of directors.

Gerstenslager has served on the HDMA board of governors since 2011 and has been on the executive committee since 2014.  He plays an active role on the HDMA board’s strategic planning group and has been an active participant in HDMA and MEMA’s government affairs activities.  He also has been CEO and global leader for Hendrickson International since 2006. He joined the company in 1989 and transformed the trailer division into a world-class manufacturer of fabricated, machined, and assembled systems. In 1996, he was named director of manufacturing engineering for the trailer division, and in 1998, he became director of operations.

HDMA also will welcome incoming vice chairman, Dominic Grote, president and CEO, Grote Industries, in 2020.  Grote has led Grote Industries’ global operations since 2009. He joined the fourth-generation, family-owned business in 1993 and previously served as vice president of sales and marketing. Grote has served on the HDMA Board since 2016 and will also join the MEMA board of directors in 2020.
