Who’s in the news: Our weekly trucking employment report

The following employment changes were announced to the trucking industry last week (April 20-26, 2020):

  • Four Star Freightliner has awarded six high school seniors the 2020 Zachary Sizemore Memorial Scholarship: Keeley Johnson, Jordan Granger, Chadwick Norris Jr., Hailey Earley, Bryce Shiver and Carson Herring. The students will receive $1,000 each toward their college of choice.
  • Link Mfg. has announced the promotion of Greg Hulstein to director of engineering and Joel Van Den Brink to engineering manager. The company also is announcing the retirement of Michael Hof, vice president of business development, and Bill Ott, vice president of engineering.
  • Phillips Industries announced its board of directors has selected Rob Phillips, current president and chief operating officer, to succeed Bob Phillips as CEO. Bob Phillips, who has been CEO since 1963, announced his retirement as CEO but will remain chairman of the board.
  • BDS Fleet Service, a 61-bay private fleet repair facility in Toronto, has hired Medical Safety Director Dr. Neil Verma, to help the company introduce strategies employed by hospitals to minimize exposure risk and help contain the spread of this virus.
