
Uvalde Proving Grounds Tracks
Main Track: 8.5-mile oval suitable for testing vehicle components and handling at a range of speeds. It has three lanes, 3.14 miles of turns and 1.1 miles of straightaways.
VDA Pad: A 15-acre square, asphalt pad that can be used for testing in wet or dry conditions.
Dry Handling 1: 1.07-mile asphalt dry course that includes six curve types and a 1,200-foot straightaway.
Dry Handling 2: 1.8-mile asphalt dry course that includes curves modeled on European race tracks and changes in elevation.
Ride Road: A three-mile multi-lane oval that features various paving surfaces and impacts for measuring ride comfort, impact dampening, noise, suspension durability and component quality.
Traction Lanes: 4,900-foot asphalt, European asphalt and concrete lanes. These different surfaces are used for wet skid, dry skid and hydroplaning testing.
Wet Handling: 5,100-foot wet asphalt track simulates wet weather conditions on public roads.
Lateral Grip Circle: 180-foot diameter wet asphalt circle used for objective and subjective evaluations, including vehicle control systems.
Hydroplane Circle: 650-foot diameter wet asphalt circle that simulates hydroplaning on wet curves. Special tracks include curb testing, rapid air loss, pothole testing and more.
A Course: 2.9-mile triangular offroad course with a lime/flint stone surface with a rock and sand base. High severity.
F Course: 1.5-mile single-lane offroad oval with a trap rock and river gravel surface with a crushed limestone base. Medium severity.
G Course: 2.2-mile single-lane offroad course with a lime, trap rock and flint surface and a crushed limestone base. Medium severity.
L Course: 1.9-mile triangular offroad course with a lime, flint surface and a crushed limestone base. Medium severity.
N Course: 2.5-mile lime and crushed flint offroad course with a lime and crushed flint surface with a rock and hard sand base. High severity.
O Course: A gravel circle featuring various gravel sizes ideal for checking a tread design’s stone retention.
H Course: 2.7-mile triangular offroad course with a limestone, trap rock and flint surface and a crushed limestone base. Very high severity.
P Course: 2-mile high speed serpentine offroad course with trap rock and river gravel at the surface and limestone at the base. Very high severity.
R Course: 300-foot mud course with native soil and water. Very high severity.
Hill Climb Course: Features 5-degree, 10-degree and 15-degree slopes along with 9-degree and 15-degree inclines. Extreme severity.
E Course: Includes multiple high-speed offroad handling courses of compacted native soil. High severity.
S Course: Offroad handling course of native soil with a 33% grade concrete hill, large boulder hill climbs and staggered telephone poles. It also includes sand, gravel and mud pits. Extreme severity.
