Thomas Built, DTNA debut innovations

Thomas Built Buses, along with its parent company Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA), is debuting leading technologies and innovations this week.

“Daimler Trucks North America is at the forefront of developing technologies and innovations that are shaping the transportation industry as a whole,” says Caley Edgerly, president and CEO of Thomas Built Buses. “We’re excited to share some of DTNA’s latest innovations as well as many emerging technologies that will continue to transform the pupil transportation industry.”

Thomas Built Buses continually incorporates innovations that make school buses safer, more efficient and easier to maintain. These include safety features in the new BusWise suite of technologies and the revolutionary Saf-T-Anchor Removable Seat (S.T.A.R.S.) mounting system for buses for students with special needs.

“Continuous improvement and dedication to building the most reliable and safest vehicles are part of our culture,” says Edgerly. “Thomas Built Buses leverages resources and innovative research solutions from our parent company DTNA for the development of many of our products. Sometimes our DTNA partnerships are in the forefront, such as the debut of the new Detroit DD5 and DD8 engines, while other DTNA partnerships are not as obvious.

“That is why we are excited to give the pupil transportation industry a taste of what we see every day: innovations in the world of transportation that may one day influence what we see on school buses in the future.”
