Phillips’ Qwik Tech Tips on liftgate connection corrosion

Updated May 16, 2019

Phillips Industries has released its January 2019 issue of Qwik Tech Tips. This issue addresses keeping corrosion out of the liftgate connection.

A leading factor contributing to corrosion at the connection includes a lack of proper maintenance with regard to moisture and contaminant intrusion. It might be impossible to stop water and contaminants completely on a standard connection, but proper maintenance can slow down the corrosion process, Phillips writes.

The company says proper installation, coupling and stowage all play a part in keeping corrosion out of the liftgate electrical system. Also, weather-proofing products for liftgate applications are available to offer additional solutions for corrosion protection.
