The following safety recalls were issued Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):
- Corp. Micro Bird is recalling certain 2023-2024 G5 school buses. The engine drive belt tensioner may fail, resulting in a loose drive belt. A loose drive belt can result in a loss of power steering, or a loss of alternator and water pump function, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, the engine may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire. NHTSA says 96 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- General Motors is recalling certain 2013-2019 Chevrolet Express Cutaway and GMC Savana Cutaway vehicles equipped with optional GM-provided body mounts (RPO BNC). The brake line may have insufficient clearance to the body mounts, which can result in brake line damage that can lead to a brake fluid leak. A brake fluid leak can result in brake failure, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 18,325 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Motiv Power Systems is recalling certain 2017-2020 E-450 and F-59 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 4 EPIC and 2020-2023 F-53 and F-59 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 5 EPIC powertrain. The wiring harness may be missing a heat shrink insulator and retention clip. The 12-volt control wires may deteriorate and loosen, causing a loss of connection to the high voltage (HV) batteries and drive power. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 151 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Motiv Power Systems is recalling certain 2017-2020 F-59 school buses equipped with a Motiv Gen 4 EPIC and 2020-2023 F-59 school buses equipped with a Motiv Gen 5 EPIC powertrain. The wiring harness may be missing a heat shrink insulator and retention clip. The 12-volt control wires may deteriorate and loosen, causing a loss of connection to the high voltage (HV) batteries and drive power. A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 13 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Trans Tech Bus is recalling certain 2018-2021 SST, CST, SSTFLR and CSTFLR school buses. In the event of a rollover, the emergency exit windows may not open. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 220, "School Bus Rollover Protection." An emergency exit window that does not open can increase the risk of injury. NHTSA says 544 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Triple E Recreational Vehicles is recalling certain Triple E 2024 Unity and Triple E 2024 Wonder motorhomes. The metric and imperial gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) values were transposed. An incorrect label may lead to unintentionally overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 95 units are potentially affected by the recall.
