The American Truck Dealers (ATD) has joined four truck transportation trade groups to launch a new coalition, the Clean Freight Coalition (CFC).

The new coalition is committed to advancing and promoting efforts to deploy clean and green trucks. ATD is joined by American Trucking Associations (ATA); National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC); the Truck & Engine Manufacturers Association (EMA); and the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA).

Comprised of truck dealers, motor carriers of every size and sector and truck manufacturers, CFC aims to educate policymakers regarding the facts on how clean and green today’s new trucks are and the need for sound policies that lead to deployment of these new trucks that also assures affordable and reliable freight transportation and protects the nation’s supply chain, ATD says.

“America’s truck dealers have an amazing story to tell regarding today’s clean and green trucks,” says Scott McCandless, chairman of ATD and president of McCandless Truck Center. “The new Clean Freight Coalition will help us share this story. For example, the trucks we sell today emit between 98% and 99% less nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions and are much more fuel efficient than new trucks sold in the 1990s.”

“America’s truck dealers sell and service the newest, cleanest, and safest trucks available,” adds ATD President Laura Perrotta. “Truck dealers are essential to turning over America’s aging truck fleet, and with nearly half of America’s trucking fleet over 10 years old, there is a lot of work this new coalition can do together to prepare the marketplace for the next generation of clean trucks.”
