General Motors and International will end production of multiple chassis cab truck models later this year.
In a story first reported by Equipment World, (owned by Fusable, parent company of TPS), Chevrolet will end production of the Silverado 4500HD, 5500HD and 6500HD models, and International will conclude production of its CV Series.
The units have been produced in a partnership between the two OEMs that was first announced in 2015. That partnership concludes on Sept. 30, and International announced recently it is selling the plant in Springfield, Ohio, where the trucks are made.
In response to a request for comment by Equipment World, International states, “We are sunsetting the International CV Series. Production has ramped down and will end in September. This decision was based on the discontinuation of our commercial vehicle agreement with a major automotive company, which expires Sept. 30.”
Under the agreement, GM provided the cab, commercial components and diesel engines, while International provided the rolling chassis configurations and manufacturing.
