The Natural Gas Vehicle Institute (NGVi) has opened registration for its upcoming natural gas vehicle maintenance safety training, to be held June 4-6 in Chicago.
NGVi says the first day of the training will focus on “Technician and Fleet Operations Safety Training,” with the second and third days detailing “CNG Fuel System Inspector Training.”
According to NGVi, the first day will teach “the elements involved in the safe maintenance practices, fueling procedures, and operation of natural gas vehicles.” It says participants will learn properties of natural gas, NGV technology, CNG fueling station equipment, emergency action plans and procedures, fueling station safety equipment and evaluation, vehicle maintenance facility safety, safe defueling of NGVs and fueling an NGV.
The second half of the training will provide “the proper techniques for inspecting CNG fuel systems, including on-board compressed natural gas fuel storage cylinders.” The NGVi says participants to that section of the training will learn properties of NG and its use as a fuel, codes and standards covering CNG cylinders, types of cylinders used in NGVs, component, pressure relief device and valve standards, cylinder and fuel system installation and inspection, fuel system final disposition and cylinder disposal, safe defueling of NGVs and fuel system inspection workshop procedures.
NGVi says early bird registration rates will last until May 13, and participants can save $100 by registering for both sections of the training.
NGVi also says regular registration is still open for its May 14-16 training sessions in Egg Harbor, N.J.
