TMC celebrating 60th anniversary at upcoming meeting

TMCAmerican Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) 2016 Annual Meeting and Transportation Technology Exhibition in Nashville will celebrate the council’s 60th anniversary, along with highlighting important trends in trucking industry maintenance and productivity.

“It’s important for us to mark this milestone in the Council’s history,” says Carl Kirk, ATA vice president of maintenance, information technology and logistics and TMC executive director. “Much of what the industry knows in the way of best practices, and reliable and safe equipment can be traced to the efforts of specialists on the original equipment and aftermarket side and equipment maintenance professionals working together in partnership at TMC.”

The conference is open to fleet professionals, suppliers and service providers who are active in the maintenance, service and production of today’s medium- and heavy-duty commercial tractors and trailers.

Scheduled for Feb. 29 to March 3, 2016, at the Music City Center in Nashville, TMC’s Annual Meeting will feature more than 400 exhibitors showcasing the latest in medium- and heavy-duty vehicles, alternative fuel vehicles, safety and information technology and more, comes alongside TMC’s rich educational experience.

That experience includes a number of TMC study group technical sessions on topics ranging from LEAN problem solving and the zero-waste maintenance shop to achieving 360° driver awareness and what the Food Safety and Modernization Act final rules mean for maintenance. It also features full technical sessions dealing with the growing shortage of diesel technicians and what cutting-edge operations are doing to recruit, hire, develop and retain technicians, and a rich discussion of the future of trucking technology business practices and maintenance shops, TMC says.

Additionally, TMC’s annual meeting will include 100 task force meetings on a variety of topics.

“TMC annually delivers the best in continuing education and emphasizing the importance of good maintenance practices and development,” says Kirk. “Anyone, from the CEO to the first-year technician, can and does benefit from the TMC experience.”
