TEC Equipment, Thompson family create new scholarships

TEC Equipment and the Thompson family have created a new scholarship for students in the College of Business at Oregon State University.

President and CEO David Thompson, as well as his sons, David O., Chris and William, announced the creation of the Ann E. and David A. Thompson Family Scholarship Oct. 20 at the OSU annual College of Business Scholarship luncheon, Impact at Work.

As Mitzi M. Montoya, PhD, the Sara Hart Kimball Dean of the College of Business, noted, “This new scholarship will profoundly change the lives of recipients who, with limited financial resources, struggle to make the most of their potential.” She described this scholarship as “among the most significant and comprehensive scholarships the college offers.”

The Thompsons will support two, four-year College of Business scholarships, covering the cost of attendance, including support for experiential learning, professional and leadership development.

David Thompson and his family have been active contributors in the areas of education, health and human services for many years.

“My family and I consider it a privilege, and an important social responsibility, to be able to share our success with those in need, who could use a helping hand. My sons, David, Chris and William, all benefited from an outstanding education at OSU’s College of Business and this is a special opportunity for us to give back,” Thompson says.

The Ann E. and David A. Thompson Family Scholarship is open to Portland-area freshmen and community college transfer students with at least a 3.5 GPA who exhibit leadership ability, work ethic and a drive to succeed and overcome challenges. Students must apply by Feb. 1, 2018.
