NTEA, the Association for the Work Truck Industry, the Lincoln Electric Co., and the National Coalition of Certification Centers will hold a train-the-trainer session for the Work Truck Industry Welder Certification Program on April 11-13 in Cleveland.
"This industry-specific program, which includes a valuable train-the-trainer initiative for company-designated trainers, was developed to help companies create their own welder education and certification programs in the workplace," says NTEA Senior Director of Member Services Nikki Wilson. "I'm thrilled to play a role in this important initiative as it continues to evolve based on participant feedback. As an example, we are getting ready to launch virtual gas metal arc welding courses on aluminum and stainless steel."

Truck Bodies & Equipment International, an NTEA member and subsidiary of Federal Signal Corp., contributed to the curriculum.
"Finding experienced and qualified welding candidates has become increasingly difficult over the past few years," says Tina Albright from TBEI. "During this time, we began working on an internal welding school to attract applicants from many different industries with the goal of teaching them the skills to become a welder. Our organization struggled with some of the academic portions of this class, so we welcomed the opportunity when NTEA approached us about participating int he development of a train-the-trainer program for welders."
The program provides hands-on skills and knowledge of theory behind welding technologies, NTEA and TBEI say. It was first introduced in 2021.
