CVSN announces educational slate for upcoming Summit

The Commercial Vehicle Solutions Network (CVSN) has announced the educational program for its upcoming Aftermarket Distribution Summit to be held June 5-8, in Lake Tahoe, Calif.

One session will be a panel discussion focusing on supply chain challenges and solutions. CVSN says supply chain challenges and shipping disruptions continue to have a big impact on the aftermarket. Additionally, these challenges have led to further disruptions such as warehousing space and the need for distributors and suppliers to think out of the box in their purchasing habits.

This session, moderated by TPS Chief Editor Lucas Deal, will look at the current state of the supply chain from the perspective of the largest port in the country, the Port of LA and the supply chain’s continuing impact on businesses, best practices both distributor and supplier companies have used to adapt and look ahead to what’s next.

Panelists will be Matt Forner, director, Aftermarket Sales, Grote Industries; Mike Harris, senior vice president, Sales & Operations, FleetPride; Thomas Gazsi, chief of Public Safety & Emergency Management at the Port of LA ; Mike DiBernardo, deputy executive director of Marketing and Customer Relations, Port of LA.

Another session is titled "Proven Strategies for Winning in Today's Difficult Job Market: From Recruiting to Retention," and will be led by Amber Milot, director of acquisitions, talent and mergers for ECS Limited. CVSN states recruiting the best people to build a successful organization has always been a challenge. Add a pandemic and recent shifting political tides, and we end up where we are today, with the lowest labor force participation rate we've seen in decades.

Like many employers, CVSN says distributors are anxious to find solutions to what is arguably the most difficult hurdle to growth, attracting talent. This session will explore workplace trends, economic indicators, and technologies distributors should incorporate into their overall company strategic goals, as well as thoughts on which of these are here to stay. Milot's background includes developing a full cycle recruitment program for her firm that has resulted in the only thing that matters results. Her presentation will include a playbook of proven methods to maximize recruiting efforts, hire the best talent for an organization and retain A players.

Finally, this year's Summit also will include a panel discussion on employee stock ownership plans (ESOP), featuring Marc Karon of Total Truck Parts, Michael Callison Jr. of Midwest Wheel Companies, and ConMet CFO Luke Penskar. The panel will be moderated by Brian Rieger, vice president, North American Sales, Con Met.

An ESOP is a defined contribution plan, a form of retirement plan as defined by 4975(e)(7) of IRS codes, which became a qualified retirement plan in 1974. It is one of the methods of employee participation in corporate ownership. CVSN says its panel will address questions business owners and leaders may have about these programs, such as, "Is an ESOP the way to go for your company? What are the benefits and disadvantages? What is involved in implementing an ESOP for your company?"
