The following safety recalls were issued Monday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA):
- Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 24V-293. The body control module (BCM) may inadvertently deactivate one or both rear tail lights. Rear tail lights that fail to illuminate can reduce the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 2,711 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Ford Motor Company is recalling certain 2022-2024 Maverick vehicles previously repaired incorrectly under recall number 23V-848. In the event that one of the rear turn signals stops working, the vehicle will not adjust the turn signal flash rate frequency to warn the driver that a turn signal has failed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." A nonfunctioning exterior turn signal cannot notify other drivers that the vehicle is turning, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 1,635 units are potentially affected by the recall. A nonfunctioning exterior turn signal cannot notify other drivers that the vehicle is turning, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 1,635 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Nikola Corporation is recalling certain 2024-2025 Tre FCEV trucks. The hydrogen tank mounting block bolts may be too long and damage the tank. A damaged tank can leak fuel, increasing the risk of a fire. NHTSA says 95 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Nova Bus is recalling certain 2005-2008 LFS transit buses. The buses may have been built with an incorrect number of emergency exits. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release." An insufficient number of emergency exits can prevent or delay passengers from exiting during an emergency, increasing their risk of injury. NHTSA says seven units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Palfinger is recalling certain 2017-2025 FHS 55 and GLS 55 vehicles. The outer rear marker lights were installed in the incorrect location. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of FMVSS number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Incorrectly positioned lights can reduce the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 2,149 units are potentially affected by the recall.
- Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain 2023 Gemini and Compass motorhomes. Washers were not installed with the roof mounting brackets. Without washers, the solar panel can detach and become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash. NHTSA says 637 units are potentially affected by the recall.
