Meritor’s Training Truck has helped train more than 731 truck technicians since the vehicle was unveiled at Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week in January.

In addition, Meritor’s district managers have trained scores of technicians at their local businesses.

Meritor’s Aftermarket team, lead by Rick Martin, training manager, have helped 229 technicians in city-wide training and another 502 with its training vans. The most common questions, Meritor says, are on the new FMVSS121 stopping distance change and how that affected new trucks/tractors/trailers.  Also, these are common questions on Reduced Stopping Distance brakes.

Meritor offers two styles of training sessions. The first is a city-wide training effort conducted by Rick Martin, which features two three-hour sessions covering eight distinct brake subjects at hotels in select major cities. The second is a one-on-one clinics at fleets, dealerships and warehouse distributor locations across the U.S. and Canada, conducted by DriveForce district managers.

The next city-wide session will be held in St. Louis June 18.
