Is it written on a legal pad? How about a white board?
While those two tracking methods are pretty time tested, computers are the standard now.
In Part 1 of his “Smart Shops” series, Jack Roberts, Equipment Editor for our sister site CCJ, takes a look at the benefits of investing in modern shop technology and how fleets who don’t upgrade lose a lot of time and money, leaving themselves at a competitive disadvantage.
Roberts spends some time with Jerry Simmons, fleet manager for Florida-based refuse hauler Advanced Disposal Services, who says as recently as two years ago the shop’s preventive maintenance schedules still were being written down on a whiteboard in the bay. Today, the fleet is a client of fleet maintenance software provider Arsenault Associates, and Simmons says the change has been dramatic.
