A look into Meritor’s aftermarket PDC

Updated Jun 4, 2015

All aftermarket distributors know of Meritor’s parts distribution facility in Florence, Ky.

The nearly 450,000 sq. ft. building has been home to the company’s aftermarket distribution in North America since the late 1970s, and Florence has housed the unit since 1976. The facility is staffed by nearly 400 employees and ships the company’s 27 product lines and more than 161,000 part numbers nationwide at blinding speeds.

Meritor says all orders received at the PDC by 3 p.m. can be processed and out the door that day. And with a 99 percent inventory accuracy rate and 99.85 percent shipping accuracy rate, Meritor says the facility has been carefully assembled to provide maximum results for its aftermarket customers.

But how?

How does Meritor manage to move that much product from one location?

Truck Parts & Service has an exclusive look at how the mammoth facility functions.
